HonleyMVC Commemorates WW1
Having only just put Lesley Garrett to bed, (figuratively speaking), we’re forging ahead with our next concert in September which will commemorate the lives and sacrifices of those who fought in the First World War. The concert looks to be something rather special with Massed Voices from 4 separate choirs. Honley will be supported by all of Steven Roberts other choirs, Altrincham Choral Society, Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir and Sing and Discover.
The programme will include Local Stories and multimedia images of the lives of people from Honley backed by Honley Civic Society and the British Legion. With Tunes from the Trenches and other WW1 Songs the concert culminates with Wherever You Are ( Paul Mealor, as sung by Military Wives) and The Choral Suite from “The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace” (Jenkins).
With more than 250 singers on stage and a uniformed presence, this promises to be a spectacular and epic event and well worth seeing. Tickets go on open sale 1st week in August but will be available to Choir and Patrons / Subscribers beforehand.
Watch out for more details over the coming weeks. Tickets outside of the choir can be obtained through Kirklees Town Halls Website and are priced £5 – £14 with Group discounts available, from 1st week in August.
